Mentorship/Counseling/Advising
Academic Advising
Richland College
All AMP students are advised and counseled on academic requirements, degree plans, counseling and transfer information. Students must meet with an academic advisor prior to semester or summer registration.

    Goal
    To assist AMP students with the selection of academic program requirements.

    Outcome
    Activity are ongoing. Current AMP students met academic requirements to continue in the program for the 99-00 academic year.

     

Mentorship
Palo Alto Community College
Each student mentored by instructor in that discipline.

    Goals

    1. To retain students in AMP program.
    2. To help student maintain / improve GPA.

    Outcome
    Increase in transfers to 4 year AMP institutions.

     

Counseling/Advising
Laredo Community College
Students were counseled/advised by instructors. Students met with their mentor several times during the academic year.

    Goals

    1. To retain all SMET students.
    2. To maintain/raise SMET students' grade point average.
    3. To assist/encourage all SMET students to transfer to a 4 year institution.
    4. To encourage SMET students to participate in summer internships

    Outcome
    Most SMET students are retained. The students have maintained a initial grade point average. And most SMET students transfer to a 4 year institution.

     

Mentoring
Houston Community College System
AMP students are assigned faculty members whom they meet on a regular basis to discuss academic and personal concerns.

    Goals
    To encourage retention and transfer to four year institutions

    Outcome
    Students have faculty support and understanding

     

Mentoring
El Centro College
Students met with their mentor several times during the academic year. All students visited with the campus coordinators following each semester to validate their desire/eligibility to continue tin the AMP program

    Goals

    1. Retain all SMET students
    2. Maintain/Raise SMET student's grade point average
    3. Assist/Encourage all SMET students to transfer to the TAMU System
    4. Encourage SMET students to help recruit other potential SMET applicants.
    5. Encourage SMET students to participate in summer bridge and internship programs

    Outcome
    SMET students have maintained initial grade point average.  Most SMET students have transfer in status to a bachelor degree program

     

Counseling
Blinn College
Students were counseled/advised by the chair of SMET division at the college. Students met with their mentor several times during the academic year. All students visited with the campus coordinators following each semester to validate their desire/eligibility to continue in the AMP program.

    Goals

    1. Retain all SMET students.
    2. Maintain/Raise SMET students' grade point average.
    3. Assist/Encourage all SMET students to transfer to TAMU System.
    4. Encourage SMET students to help recruit other potential SMET applicants.

    2. SMET students have maintained initial grade point average.
