Transfer Information Day | Transfer Information Day TAMU-College Station A one day event held each semester for community college students to visit the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. Students are given the opportunity to visit two math/science/engineering departments, attend a student panel discussion, attend workshops on admission criteria, scholarship opportunities, housing, etc. |
- To recruit greater numbers of under-represented ethnic minority students into engineering, math, science fields.
- To give community college students an opportunity to visit the TAMU campus and interact with faculty and students.
Outcome The first Transfer Information Day was held in the spring 1998, with only 59 students participating, but 19 (32%) of those students enrolled at Texas A&M the following fall semester. Over 150 students attended the conferences during the 1998-99 academic year.
